“I think when I was a kid going to church and singing that song, “Jesus Loves Me” I really took that to heart that he did, so if somebody else didn’t love me, that’s your tough luck kind of thing.”
Carol Lafayette Boyd. Carol was born on a farm near McGee, Saskatchewan, on May 17th, 1942. She was born to descendants of those who came to Canada in 1906 from Iowa and 1910 from Oklahoma.
Carol is an inductee in the Regina Sports Hall of Fame (2014) and Canadian Masters Athletics Hall of Fame (2012). In 2018 Carol was presented with the World Masters Athletics Athlete of the Year award in Toruń, Poland. She also holds a number of Canadian and world records in track and field. She is a shot-putter, a runner, a jumper, and has retired from competing in high jump.
Most recently in 2022, Carol was again chosen as the World Masters Athletics Overall Female Athlete of the Year.
